Coffee is best with brunch, sometimes.

Located right in the centre of Robertson Quay/Martin Road, a popular expatriate neighbourhood in Singapore, Common Man Coffee Roasters offers great coffee. A collaboration between Forty Hands café (itself the baby of Perth native and master barista Harry Grover) and Australian coffee roaster Five Senses, Common Man has a distinctive, almost Melbournian coffee shop ambiance.

Besides coffee (we had a cappuccino and a single origin Costa Rica drip), the brunch offerings here also dazzle. The French toast was crisp on the outside and pillow-soft when biting into it. Add a drizzle of maple syrup, some fruit, and you have a perfect breakfast.

For heavier fare, there’s their signature Turkish Common Man Breakfast – a soft-boiled organic egg wrapped in deep-fried phyllo, served with cucumber, tomatoes, olives, hummus and pita bread.

Head here for a weekend brunch and excellent coffee with uncommon charm.

由當地著名的咖啡館Forty Hands和澳洲咖啡豆烘焙商Five Senses聯手打造,
從食物到咖啡都呈現出一股澳式風。
來到這裡,如果仔細觀察的話,可以發現從咖啡師到員工都有白人的身影;
而在顧客群中,外國人更是占了大多數。
置身其間,仿佛有種來到國外的感覺。

澳式咖啡館除了提供咖啡外,當然也少不了蛋類的早午餐料理。
當天我們點了兩份早點,兩杯咖啡和一杯果汁。
外酥內軟的法國吐司;淋上一點楓糖漿,再加入一些水果,是我喜歡的早餐。
不過如果可以的話,我會選擇把雪糕拿掉啦。
而另一份Turkish Common Man Breakfast則是這裡的人氣早餐。
裡頭有一樣像點心芋角的東西,切開一看原來是一顆輕煮蛋。
然後在加上炸的外皮酥脆的羊乳酪、鷹嘴豆豆泥、黃瓜、番茄和皮塔麵餅。
新鮮的搭配,豐富的口感,還蠻討人喜歡的。

咖啡方面我們則點了一杯卡布奇諾和一杯單品Costa Rica。
我們覺得兩杯都不錯,不過單品咖啡的選擇並不多,
如果沒記錯的話,當天只有兩種豆子可選。
好喝的咖啡加上豐盛的早點,所以雖然價錢不便宜,
(這一餐吃了70新幣左右,以近來的兌換率,要170多馬幣。。。。)
還是吸引了大批顧客,週末時可能還得排隊呢。

*近來在KLCC對面的Avenue K裡頭開了一家叫Urbean的咖啡館。
聽說他們所用的就是Common Man的豆子,不過我們還沒去試過,不知味道如何。
