Le Coutume Café, Paris

Coffee keeps the chill away.

If you are ever in the 7th arrondissement of Paris and need a break from touristy spots such as the Rodin Museum and Le Bon Marché, look no further than Coutume for a pick-me-up. This spacious place enjoys plenty of natural sunlight, giving it the feel of a Melburnian coffeehouse rather than a gloomy Parisian café.

Opened in 2011 by Frenchman Antoine Netien and his Australian partner Tom Clarke, Coutume isn’t only a café as they also roast their own beans and supply various restaurants, hotels and bars in the city. Regulars don’t only drop by for the specialty coffee; there is also their popular organic menu with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Brunch here can be a relaxing, detox affair (assuming that’s not an oxymoron).

However what Coutume does best is their coffee. From regular espresso drinks to their signature siphon brews, we sip our cups slowly and joyously. This is in fact the first café we stepped into during our Parisian visit and it is a welcome change from the chilly winds in the streets outside. (For those who need more warmth, Coutume also stocks artisanal beers.)

如果你剛在巴黎第七區逛完了羅丹博物館 Rodin Museum,
又或則剛從樂蓬馬歇百貨商場(又稱貴婦百貨)Le Bon Marché血拼出來,
想找個咖啡館歇一歇,喝杯咖啡的話;不妨來Coutume坐坐。
Coutume這家咖啡館是由法國人Antoine Netien和他的澳大利亞搭檔Tom Clarke於2011年所開設。
咖啡館里斑駁的牆壁,加上大量的自然光,
非常的不“巴黎”;反而讓我們有種來到墨爾本的感覺。
Coutume除了自家烘焙豆子和售賣咖啡外,他們同時也是豆子供應商。
巴黎不少的咖啡館、酒店和餐廳的豆子都是由Coutume所提供。
而這裡的有機和無麩質食品(gluten-free)更深得大眾的喜愛。
Coutume是我們在巴黎所到訪的第一家咖啡館。
下了機把行李往房間一丟后,我們便乘地下鐵到這來。
一邊吃著午餐兼下午茶,一邊享受著他們的虹吸咖啡。
記得當時還是冬天,懶懶的我們不想到處走,就這樣窩在咖啡館裡,
由耶加雪啡那淡淡的花香;伴我們渡過了在巴黎的第一個下午。

Wow, cool! Plenty of cafés to visit!

In Amsterdam there is a café called Screaming Beans we love very much. But we haven’t written about it yet, hehehe.
