Wheeler’s Yard, Singapore

By Kenny Mah and CK Lim

Coffee is wherever you find yourself.

Walking into this small alley off the ever-busy Balestier Road, you may think you have stumbled into an industrial park. You wouldn’t be far wrong. The grey façades of the nondescript factories and warehouses here don’t really inspire.

However once you spot the cerulean blue exterior of Wheeler’s Yard, you know you’ve been transported into a different world amidst its dreary neighbours. Wheeler’s Yard is a bicycle café but to summarise it as such would be to do it a disservice. There’s more here than coffee and chainguards.

The industrial chic (in this case, quite literally industrial) warehouse doubles both as a “bicycle atelier” where a good range of bicycles and accessories are sold, with in-house mechanics to help you, as well as a coffee bar and “canteen” (food is available).

The place is huge so you don’t have to worry about jostling for a table or another diner inadvertently photo-bombing you. For Wheeler’s Yard is nothing if not a magnet for Instagrammers. To enjoy your cuppa in peace, opt for al fresco seating where you can watch the day go by (or strapping cyclists on their colourful rides).

Yums.

車夫小院這還備有專業的維修人員為大家服務;

ooo, it’s nice how there are so many different types of bicycles here! i think the bicycle i learned to ride on when i was in standard three would fit in perfectly here 😀

I think among all the bicycles cafes that I’ve visited, this is the biggest one and these hand made bicycles are imported from Taiwan, so cool! 🙂
